Cricket Australia is set to take another break from the traditional cricket in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Earlier they had tested a similar theory of two vice-captains in the Test cricket. Seemingly, the team is on the hunt for more stereotype-breaking cricket.

The theory of using two captains in a single match will be tested in the practice game against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will be visiting Australia for a short tour for the three-match T20I series against the hosts. Before the game, Sri Lanka will play a practice game with Australia’s Prime Minister XI at Manuka Oval.

Australia had last year in 2018, had for the first time in Test cricket history ever, used two vice-captains in a single Test. It happened in the first match after the major ball-tampering case in Australia.

However, once again Australia is ready to test another of their theories. Meanwhile, the former Australian skipper Greg Chappell calls it a certain break from the traditional game rules.

“This is the first instance of the Prime Minister’s XI nominating two captains. It is a break from the tradition and both will be known as co-captains,” Chappell said.

“No further decisions have been made regarding on-field duties”, he further added.

Nonetheless, the game will witness two captains for Australia in the Australia’s Prime Minister XI as per BdCrictime. They have announced Danial Christian and Peter Siddle as the co-captains of the team. Although the duties of the two captains are yet to be declared, keeping the things secret for now. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will also be present at the beginning of the game and will also be the one to toss the coin.

Chappell informs, “The Prime Minister (Scott Morrison) will do the toss. It (the PM going for a toss) does not matter. It’s an exhibition match”.

Australia will face Sri Lanka in the three T20Is scheduled for October 27, 30 and November 1 in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne respectively. The 14-man squad captained by Aaron Finch will travel to Adelaide on October 24th.
